With more than 30 years of experience in accounting and finance, the majority in the nonprofit sector, Lori Gillam brings deep expertise and a steadfast commitment to community-driven organizations to her role as Controller at Prebys Foundation.
Before joining Prebys, Lori served as Senior Director of Accounting and Controller at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, where she led finance operations and supported the chief financial officer with budgets, audits, and financial reporting. She also spent nearly a decade in public accounting, auditing small nonprofits across Southern California — a formative experience that sparked her lifelong dedication to organizations strengthening their communities.
A third-generation San Diegan, Lori grew up in North Park and has a lifelong love of Balboa Park, where she took art classes as a child. Outside of work, she enjoys creative pursuits, swimming, and hopes to add a new language to her repertoire soon.
