Why it Matters

San Diego’s youth are at a critical stage in their development and need strong community support to thrive. Many face academic struggles, mental health challenges exacerbated by COVID-19, and are often seen as problems rather than future leaders.

The Prebys Foundation’s goal is to ensure that all San Diego youth are healthy, engaged, and empowered to succeed in their communities. This involves fostering a shared vision for youth well-being, expanding opportunities for jobs, education, arts, and civic engagement, and improving mental and physical health outcomes.

Our three key strategies:

  1. Shared vision and infrastructure, by bringing together leaders from different sectors to advance a common vision for youth success.
  2. Workforce development, by supporting organizations that prepare youth for careers through workforce partnerships.
  3. Civic engagement, by funding programs that help youth develop leadership skills and become engaged in issues like climate change and democracy.

Through these efforts, the foundation aims to help San Diego youth reach their full potential.
