Prebys Foundation Announces $16 Million to Enrich San Diego's Thriving Arts Community

Applicants may apply for funding through the Prebys Foundation Website

San Diego, CA – The Conrad Prebys Foundation announced $16 million in arts initiatives to support and uplift the vibrant arts community of San Diego.

“We seek to celebrate and strengthen the many forms and roles of San Diego’s dynamic visual and performing arts scene,” said Prebys CEO Grant Oliphant. “Art helps us connect across the region regardless of our zip code — whether we reside in the Anza Borrego Desert, the beach communities, or somewhere in between, we want to encourage a robust art scene where creativity can thrive.”

Organizations are encouraged to apply as soon as reasonable, as submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis during the application window. More information about each initiative, including how to apply, can be found at: https://www.prebysfdn.org/arts-initiatives

The funds will be available to arts organizations and institutions through three initiatives:

• (Open Now) Communities of Belonging: These grants are meant to lift up our many different neighborhoods and communities, expressing the voices and narratives of people across the region. This initiative will provide two-year General Operating or Project/Program funds ranging from $10K-$100K per year ($20K-$200K total).

• (Open Now) Anchoring the Arts: This effort will support the creation, production, or presentation of dynamic art that brings people of different communities and backgrounds together, builds empathy, reveals shared values, and generates learning and dialogue. This initiative will provide programmatic grants. One-year grants will range from $100K-$500K and two-year grants will range from $50K-$250K per year ($100K-$500K total).

• (Open Now) Art Bridging Communities: This initiative will support the creation, production, or presentation of dynamic art that brings people of different communities and backgrounds together, builds empathy, reveals shared values, and generates learning and dialogue. This initiative will provide one-year grants ranging from $25K-$250K. Funds will be paid in 2023 and may be used over a grant term of up to 24 months.
